Can Stem Cells Help With Breast Enhancement?

There are a lot of women who want to do something to change the appearance and feel of their breasts, but find the plastic, unnatural look of silicone implants unappealing. Thanks to new developments, there are new methods available to increase breast size and firmness without resorting to surgery.

New research indicates that within the next 10 years we will be able to utilize stem cells as a means to produce new breast tissue, making it a new alternative to dangerous silicone implants.

Japanese researchers believe they have discovered a means of developing stem cells into tissue that resembles the fatty tissue naturally occurring in the breast by exposing it to conditions occurring naturally in the body. When researchers injected mice with this kind of stimulated cell, they noticed that after a few weeks, the tissue had retained its size and shape.

Application of this process to breast enhancement could provide a means of helping women get larger breasts that still look, feel, and behave quite natural. The new tissue will incorporate with the previously existing breast tissue, as opposed to implants that are permanently “foreign objects” placed in the body. In addition, the new stem cell tissue will enable the larger breast to increase its own blood supply, ensuring that the new size and shape will remain consistent. In other words, instead introducing and outside object into the body, stem cells will allow the breast to grow and develop in a natural, healthier fashion.

These studies are already attracting a lot of attention. And their potential application as a means of helping women who want to augment their breast size has not been ignored. In fact, they have been hailed as a triumph.

Most importantly, this stem cell method does not come with the unwanted side effects of scarring, stretch marks, or potentially hazardous leakage. By developing a way of growing new breast tissue, scientists could potentially come up with an entirely new and much safer option for breast enlargement.

Scientists are also investigating whether this procedure can also be used to grow an entire breast, a development that might benefit women who have lost all or part of their breast to cancer.

While the results have been met with enthusiasm, there is still much further research to be done, and it may be years before a deliverable product is developed. Until then, choose what's best for your body.
